Literary Happy Hour is a curated reading and performance series providing a platform for New Haven writers to present their work, build a local following, and form a supportive, collaborative writing community. This event unites the strongest writers from disconnected corners of the New Haven community – including creative writing students, open mic performers, and independent writers – with an emphasis on writers of color, and other writers belonging to marginalized groups. Creating a radically inclusive performance space and creative community, Literary Happy Hour gives rise to healing, liberation, deepening of self and genuine community building. Literary Happy Hour is curated by Cultural Activist Hanifa Nayo Washington.
Presented during Westville Weekend of this year's CityWide Open Studios, our October event will center around the theme: "Being Well While Being ________________."
There will be 3 featured artists. Following their performances, we are opening up the mic for all you poets, singers, writers out there who have something to say about wellness, wellbeIng, wholeness, etc.
If you are interested in being considered as a featured artist, or signing up for the open mic, please email Hanifa Nayo Washington: firstname.lastname@example.org.
This program is made possible with support from the NewAlliance Foundation.
